About Contemplative Outreach Chicago

Contemplative Outreach is a spiritual network of individuals and small faith communities committed to living the contemplative dimension
of the Gospel in everyday life through the practice of Centering Prayer. The contemplative
dimension of the Gospel manifests itself in an
ever-deepening union with the living Christ and
the practical caring for others that flows from
that relationship.

Contemplative Outreach Chicago is a local chapter of Contemplative Outreach, Ltd. We serve northern Illinois and northwest Indiana. Our purpose is to teach and share the method of Centering Prayer and its conceptual foundations, and to help people begin or continue their contemplative journey. We encourage and support the formation of Centering Prayer groups; offer programs on Centering Prayer, Lectio Divina, the Welcoming Prayer, the Prayer of Forgiveness and other topics; organize intensive and post-intensive retreats; organize weekend retreats and days of prayer; host special events; publish a quarterly newsletter; and offer formation to those who wish to serve the Contemplative Outreach network as servant leaders.

We welcome inquiries from and participation of individuals, parishes/congregations, ordained clergy, and religious of all faith traditions.
