Welcome the Word

    "Welcome the Word" is an introductory program to lectio divina for young people specifically in Junior High, grades Six through Eight (ages 12-14). The program uses multimedia, e.g. music, scripture and food, to introduce the method, "Praying with the Bread of Life" which guides the young people through a scholastic model of lectio divina using the four stages:

Lectio - Read, Listen

Meditatio - Reflect, discursive meditation

Oratio - Respond, pray

Contemplatio - Rest, contemplate

Central to the teaching is: Prayer is a relationship and a discipline. The children are encouraged to pray with the word of God on a regular basis so as to deepen their relationship with Jesus, as friendship with Christ is integral.
